Year 5
Class teacher Miss Spencer-Boyce
In Year 5, parents visit possible secondary schools and formalise their choices. They discuss options with the class teacher if unsure. They continue to Master the Y5 curriculum and respond to texts with higher level responses. Problem solving and reasoning are large components of the Maths curriculum; they are expected to know and recall their tables quickly. They use concrete apparatus in Maths. At the end of the year pupils take on responsibilities as monitors ready for Y6. They go on a two night residential trip in October which helps to bond the class. Pupils are Y6 ready when they are secure in the Y5 curriculum. They are given an exciting broad and balanced curriculum which includes the Power of Reading.
